Chemotherapy Side Effects
Every medicine or treatment which involves chemical reactions has some side effects. Anything which applies a change in the body and parts creates a different effect, as of, the natural balance in that part. Chemotherapy, as it stops the cells from growing and also removes some cancer cells, has some side effects. Among these side effects some are short time effects which can be controlled at the same time but others are long time effects and takes huge time to recover. In order to minimize the side effect, a test of a patient is necessary before chemotherapy in order to find out whether he or she is able to undergo treatment.

There are many short term side effects of chemotherapy like damage to good cells, hair loss, infections, mouth sores, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue & anemia, change of taste and smell, menopause & fertility, malnutrition, flu like symptoms, and problems with hands and feet. There are medications and suggestions in order to cover these short time effects. If the prescribed medicines are not taken regularly, these problems can be dangerous. Fertility related problem can be permanent if a prescribed medicine, to cope its effects, is not used with chemotherapy.

There are some long time effects of chemotherapy which can destroy the cells permanently and can be very harmful for the patient. Long term effects like loss of memory, sexual problems, kidney problems and loss of blood cells, hemorrhage cardiotoxicity, ototoxicity, and osteoporosis and blood cancer are more problematic than need of chemotherapy. It is very difficult to talk about each and every side effect, as there are different chemotherapies involved in the treatment and age and size of the tumor is different in different people.

There are some remedies and medicine treatment for the effects of chemotherapy. In order to prevent fatigue or anemia medicines like epogen, procrit, and aranesp helps the body to increase the production of red blood cells. If the body feels laziness, it is seen that by getting some rest it can be controlled. Menopause symptoms like night sweats, vaginal dryness and loss of interest in sex can be very upsetting and irritating. In order to get rid of these types of problems doctor advise women to use birth control medicine during their treatment. There are several other types of medicines which can be used to prevent the effects of chemotherapy.

Cancer is the biggest problem these days and it’s important to get rid of it immediately it is diagnosed. Chemotherapy is a best effective treatment these days so this treatment should be continued while another treatment or medicine should be used in order to cope with its side effects. If the side effects are short term than there is no problem as against cancer these side effects has no value. If there is a danger of a long time side effects doctors also prescribe another medicine to overcome the side effects.
