Oral Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is the chemical and drug mixed treatment for the patients of cancer. There are different ways to take the drug treatment. It can directly inject into the muscles, skins or veins and it can also be taken orally. The type of treatment depends upon the type of cancer, size of tumor, and stage of the cancer at the time it is diagnosed. Chemotherapy does have side effects and which can be harmful for the body. It is very important for cancer patients to undergo a test in order to find out that they are fit for the prescribed chemotherapy.

Oral is related to taking things by mouth. Chemotherapy by involving mouth is known as oral chemotherapy. There may be pills or capsules in different number to take by mouth in oral chemotherapy. Doctor always prescribed the different numbers and kinds of pills or capsules. Oral chemotherapy is a home based treatment in which patients can take pills and the duration of the treatment depends on the kind and stage of their cancer. The duration of treatment also depends on the kind of chemotherapy used. There are some which needs to take long time at a slow rate while others are hard and have some bigger side effects.

Oral chemotherapy also has the some side effects. The reason of treatment of chemotherapy is to kill the cancer cells. There are many healthy cells which may effect by the treatment. The healthy cells of hair, skin and reproductive organs can be harmed by chemotherapy. This destruction of cells can create huge problems relating to hair loss, skin diseases and many reproduction related problems especially for women. There is a big possibility that these effected cells may be repaired after the completion of treatment. There are some other side effects of oral chemotherapy like blood problems.

Blood problems can affect the size of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. If any patient has less number of red blood cells in his blood, he may have other disease called anemia. Blood problems can also stop blood clotting. Clotting helps to stop bleeding. So there may be huge problems if the blood cell number is affected by chemotherapy. Fatigue, diarrhea, flue like symptoms, infection are other side effects of chemotherapy.

Oral chemotherapy can also have short term side effects like mouth, gum, & throat problems, nausea and vomiting, pain and skin problems. In order to cure these problems certain things have to be done. Blood test, CT scan and chest X-ray should be properly taken in order to find out any kind of infection, lungs tumor, heart problem, and any damage to body parts. It is very much clear that chemotherapy can cause side effects which can be harmful if not taken into account quickly. There is always a risk that another disease, cancer, and infection may occur due to oral chemotherapy. It is also very painful for patients and their families, to know about an additional problem which is a gift with a treatment of their first problem.
